Moves Paid by the Jobcenter
Is the Jobcenter or Sozialamt (social welfare office) paying for your move? We're your experienced partner for these moves – from the application to moving into your new home. We know the process and support you every step of the way.
Your reliable moving partner
If you receive benefits from the Jobcenter (SGB II) or the Sozialamt (SGB XII) and have to move, you may be entitled to have your moving costs covered. Once the move has been approved, the authority usually pays for a professional moving company. ibra Transport is an experienced partner for exactly these moves – we know the procedures, forms and requirements of the authorities.
The process is simpler than you might think: first, you apply to your Jobcenter or Sozialamt for your moving costs to be covered. You'll usually need a good reason – for example a request to lower your housing costs, a new job, a change in your family or health reasons. Once the authority approves, you normally collect three quotes from moving companies. We'll prepare a quote that meets the authority's requirements – quickly and easily.
Important: never move without prior approval, or the authority won't cover the costs. We're happy to advise you on the process and prepare a quote that meets your authority's requirements. Our service covers the complete move, including packing, transport and furniture assembly – all from one company, at a fair fixed price.

Frequently asked questions
Who pays for my move?
If you receive benefits under SGB II (Bürgergeld, formerly Hartz IV) or SGB XII (social assistance), the Jobcenter or Sozialamt can cover your moving costs. The move must be approved in advance and there must be a good reason (e.g. a request to lower housing costs, a new job, a growing family).
What documents do I need for the application?
Usually you'll need: the application for moving costs (a form from the Jobcenter/Sozialamt), proof of the reason for moving, the new tenancy agreement or flat offer, and three quotes from moving companies. We're happy to help with the quote.
Do I have to pay up front?
No – in many cases we bill the Jobcenter or Sozialamt directly. Alternatively, you get an invoice to submit to the authority. Talk to us and we'll find the best solution for your situation.
How many quotes do I need?
Most Jobcenters and social welfare offices require three quotes from different moving companies. We'll prepare a detailed quote that meets their requirements – quickly and easily.
Can I move without approval?
We strongly advise against it! If you move without prior approval, the authority usually won't cover any costs. Always apply first and wait for approval before booking the move.
How much does a Jobcenter-funded move with ibra Transport cost?
The cost depends on the size of your home, the distance and the services needed. We prepare a fair fixed-price quote that meets your authority's requirements. The survey and advice are free.
